Environmental illness is not always about one exposure. It is often about the relationship between your external environment and your internal terrain.
Mold, mycotoxins, chemicals, heavy metals, poor indoor air quality, and other environmental stressors can place a significant burden on the body. But not everyone exposed to the same environment develops the same symptoms.
At SIE Medical, we look deeper. We evaluate why your body may be more vulnerable: metabolism, inflammation, mitochondrial function, detoxification capacity, immune regulation, gut health, hormones, nutrient status, and chronic stress physiology.
Advanced Environmental Medicine focused on identifying, treating, and
preventing environmentally driven illness through an integrative,
personalized, and science-based approach.
Welcome to Southern Integrative and Environmental Medical,
a specialized medical practice dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of
Environmental Illness. Our clinic is led by formally trained
and experienced Environmental Medicine physicians who understand how modern
environmental exposures impact physical, neurological, immune, and emotional
health.
We provide in-person care at our offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Austin, Texas, as well as comprehensive virtual consultations for patients nationwide.
Environmental Medicine is a medical specialty that studies and treats the
effects of environmental exposures on human health. These exposures can
influence the body’s immune system, nervous system, hormonal balance,
metabolic processes, and cellular function.
At Southern Integrative and Environmental Medical, we focus on identifying
environmental triggers that disrupt the body’s ability to maintain balance
and resilience.
Our clinical focus includes, but is not limited to:
These environmental factors can significantly impair health and may
contribute to a wide range of symptoms and chronic conditions when left
unaddressed.
We practice a truly integrative and personalized form of medicine
that considers the full picture of your health. This includes your:
By addressing both internal physiology and external environmental influences,
we are able to develop highly individualized treatment plans designed to
support long-term health and resilience.
Environmental illness can be a contributing factor to many serious and
chronic health conditions. When left untreated, environmental exposures may
play a role in:
Identifying and addressing environmental contributors is often a crucial step
toward meaningful and lasting improvement.
Many patients think environmental medicine means “detoxing.” Detoxification may be part of care, but it is not the whole plan.
A comprehensive plan may include:
Reducing ongoing exposure
Improving nutrition and protein intake
Supporting mitochondrial energy
Restoring gut function
Improving elimination and bile flow
Supporting glutathione and antioxidant capacity
Reducing inflammation
Regulating immune overactivation
Addressing thyroid, adrenal, and hormone dysfunction
Using targeted nutraceuticals when appropriate
Considering IV therapy, sauna, binders, or other supportive tools
Rebuilding tolerance and resilience over time
The goal is not simply to remove toxins. The goal is to help the body function well enough to recover and adapt again.
We are committed to making specialized Environmental Medicine accessible,
whether you visit us in person or connect with our team virtually.
Information and understanding are the first steps toward healing.
At Southern Integrative and Environmental Medical, we partner with you to
uncover environmental contributors to illness and support your journey
toward improved health, function, and quality of life.
Is environmental illness always caused by mold?
No. Mold can be an important trigger, but environmental illness often reflects a combination of external exposures and internal vulnerability.
Why do some people get sick from mold while others do not?
People differ in detoxification capacity, immune regulation, gut health, mitochondrial function, genetics, inflammation, and metabolic resilience.
Is detox enough to recover from environmental illness?
Usually not. Detox support may help, but recovery often requires improving metabolism, gut health, nutrition, hormones, inflammation, sleep, and exposure reduction.
What makes SIE Medical’s approach different?
SIE Medical evaluates both the environmental burden and the metabolic terrain that determines how the body responds to that burden.
Do you treat mold illness virtually?
SIE Medical offers in-person care in Atlanta and Austin and telehealth options for some patients.
The key shift is: environmental illness becomes the doorway, but metabolic dysfunction becomes the explanation.
