Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Cognitive Decline

We are an Integrative Medical Practice that focuses on Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Cognitive Decline with formally trained and experienced practioners. There are offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Austin, Texas as well as we offer virtual consultations.

We are educated and follow The Bredesen Protocol which is a comprehensive and personalized approach to prevent and reverse cognitive decline caused by Alzheimer’s, Cognitive Decline and Dementia. It was developed by Dr. Dale Bredesen, a neurologist and researcher who has spent over 30 years studying the mechanisms of neurodegeneration.

The protocol is based on the idea that Alzheimer’s, Cognitive Decline and Demetia are not single diseases, but a complex and multifactorial condition that results from the imbalance of 36 different factors that affect brain health. These factors include inflammation, infections, toxins, hormones, nutrition, lifestyle, genetics, and more. By identifying and addressing the specific factors that contribute to each individual’s cognitive impairment, the protocol aims to restore the brain’s ability to heal itself and improve its function. The protocol involves a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s medical history, symptoms, biomarkers, and genetic profile, followed by a personalized plan that includes dietary interventions, supplements, exercise, stress management, sleep optimization, brain stimulation, and other therapies. The protocol is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but a dynamic and evolving process that requires regular monitoring and adjustments. The protocol has been shown to improve cognitive performance and quality of life in hundreds of Alzheimer’s, Cognitive Decline and Dementia patients who have followed it under the guidance of trained practitioners. Some of the benefits reported by patients include improved memory, attention, language, mood, energy, and overall well-being. The protocol is not a cure for Alzheimer’s, Cognitive Decline, or Dementia but a way to slow down or halt its progression and enhance brain resilience.

HOW WE HELP

Naturopathic Doctors (NDs or NMDs) are trained in an Integrative Approach.
They provide evidence-informed guidance on safe and effective use of natural and supportive therapies, when combined with conventional treatment.

Understand You

We take the time to understand your body’s Internal Terrain, health history and environment through anecdotal and empirical facts.

Plan of Health

We create an individualized and through plan of health that takes into account the Whole You as well as Naturopathic and potentially Allopathic care options. Your Internal Terrain and bio-individuality significantly impact your Plan of Health.

KIMBERLY R. WILLIFORD, MS, RD/LD, NMD

Kimberly Williford, MS,RD,LD,NMD is a native Texan, Licensed Naturopathic Doctor and Registered Dietitian. She has dedicated her entire career to studying and helping patients to heal and balance metabolic dysfunction to help chronically ill patients while optimizing vitality and performance.

She earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Master’s degree in Nutritional Science, Magna Cum Laude, from Texas Tech University and completed internship at Texas Tech Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas. After graduate school her focus was on children born with metabolic disorders later becoming an intensive care dietitian. She also worked extensively with the geriatric population both in the hospital and extended care facilities.

As a desire to treat the cause of disease rather than symptoms she furthered her education by attending medical school at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, one of only four accredited, four-year naturopathic medical schools in the United States where she earned her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree (NMD). She completed a two year general and functional medicine residence, which focused on metabolic testing in Atlanta, Georgia. She served as a consultant in functional test interpretation for Metametrix/Genova laboratories reviewing test results with doctors from all over the country.

She has completed Board Certification fellowship training in anti-aging and restorative medicine with the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Rejuvenation Medicine. She studied environmental medicine with Dr. Bill Rea, founder of Environmental Health Center Dallas, and Dr. Walter Crinnion, an expert in environmental medicine for over thirty years. This was a natural fit for taking and completing Dr. Bredesen’s certification for Practitioners.

Dr. Williford’s practice focuses on integrative functional wellness to help cognitive decline, environmental toxicity, cancer support, metabolic dysfunction, hormone imbalance, longevity/optimal aging and chronic disease. Treatment is individual as each person is unique. The focus is on the person as a whole rather than a diagnosis. She has been working with patients, both in and out of the hospital for over 20 years to help them achieve optimal health.

Dr. Williford has such a great understanding of how my body works. She has helped me support my body and mind through making changes in my life and diet. It has made me feel more like myself and able to think more clearly.   Thank You!– S.I.E.Medical Patient
