A Whole-Body Approach to Wellness
Naturopathic medicine, sometimes referred to as integrative or functional medicine, sees the body as a whole system. An imbalance in one area will lead to symptoms in another. If you suffer from a nutritional deficiency, you may have skin issues. If your hormones are imbalanced, you may have higher anxiety.
Our naturopathic doctors are proactive, not reactive. We understand that a combination of primary care, lifestyle medicine, and targeted natural therapies work in synergy to keep you feeling healthy.

THE 6 PRINCIPLES OF NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE
How our Naturopathic Doctor in Austin Can Help
Because naturopathic medicine focuses on the whole body, mind and getting to the root cause, it’s extremely versatile and uses the body’s process to help you heal and Thrive. We see patients who have been struggling with severe chronic illness, and we also see patients who feel good and want to fully optimize their health. If you’re wondering, “Is naturopathic medicine right for me?” then the answer is likely yes.
Naturopathic medicine can be highly effective in addressing gut issues by focusing on the root causes and promoting holistic health. This approach often includes dietary changes, emphasizing whole foods and eliminating potential allergens or irritants. Our naturopathic doctor might recommend probiotics and herbal supplements to restore healthy gut flora and reduce inflammation. Stress management techniques, such as mindfulness and relaxation exercises, are also incorporated to support overall digestive health.
Healing the gut not only helps relieve digestive disorders, but it’s often the first step to relieving many chronic conditions.
Integrative medicine helps to manage and may reverse autoimmune diseases by addressing underlying triggers and promoting overall immune system balance. In many cases, there’s an underlying toxin or imbalance that’s causing runaway inflammation. But by focusing on individualized and natural interventions, our approach aims to reduce the severity of autoimmune flare-ups and improve the quality of life for individuals with autoimmune conditions.
Too many people wake up wondering, “Why do I feel tired all the time?” That’s why they come to our Austin practice to work with our naturopathic doctor. We start with a comprehensive evaluation to identify underlying factors such as nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, mitochondrial function, and chronic stress. Naturopathic practitioners often recommend personalized dietary plans rich in whole foods and essential nutrients to boost energy levels. Herbal supplements and adaptogens may be used to enhance adrenal function and improve resilience to stress. Our goal is to find out what’s sapping your body’s natural energy and its production functions.
Our Integrative Medicine approach brings together the Metabolic Approach to Cancer Support and Integrative Oncology to offer the best combination for your individual needs. Integrative oncology aims to optimize patients’ quality of life, reduce side effects of treatments, and improve clinical outcomes as well as potentially reducing the risk of recurrence.
Integrative approaches to neurodegenerative diseases emphasize prevention and slowing disease progression through lifestyle interventions. This includes optimizing nutrition, regular physical activity, cognitive exercises, stress reduction, and addressing underlying factors like inflammation, oxidative stress, and insulin resistance. Nutritional supplements, such as omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, are also commonly used.
Austin is no stranger to mold and chemicals. These environmental toxins can build up in the body and cause disruptions with key bodily functions. Our detoxification protocols, which may include dietary adjustments, cleanses, and more, are specifically tailored to your needs. By addressing both the source of exposure and enhancing the body’s ability to detoxify, naturopathic doctors aim to mitigate the adverse effects of environmental toxins on health.
